Captain Apache / The Grand Duel
So I took a chance and bought some spaghetti westerns at the dollar store. I guess I shouldn't be surprised or disappointed at what I found.First, allow me to state that I love spaghetti westerns. I could watch any of Sergio Leone's films or Death Rides a Horse or My Name is Nobody or a score of others and enjoy them until the cows come home. Yet I found myself bored to tears with both of these.
The Grand Duel I am pretty sure I saw before on the Western Channel, although I may be wrong. Either way the print is absolutely terrible and is a strain on the eyes. I ended up dozing off a bit so if I do decide to ever give this film a chance again, it will have to be with a better print.
Captain Apache was crap. Getting past the obvious faults such as Lee Van Cleef playing an Indian (and singing, no less) and going beyond that the film just falls apart when you realize the only cool thing about the movie is Lee Van Cleef's singing ability (or lack therof.)
Since we're having a tag sale soon, I think this disc will go in the pile to sell or give away.
